2 Timothy 4:1
"In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge:"   NIV

The pastor’s job is to:

1.      Preach

2 Timothy 4:2
"Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage — with great patience and careful instruction."   NIV

2 Timothy 4:2
"Herald and preach the Word! Keep your sense of urgency [stand by, be at hand and ready], whether the opportunity seems to be favorable or unfavorable. [Whether it is convenient or inconvenient, whether it is welcome or unwelcome, you as preacher of the Word are to show people in what way their lives are wrong.] And convince them, rebuking and correcting, warning and urging and encouraging them, being unflagging and inexhaustible in patience and teaching."   AMP

2 Timothy 4:2
"Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage — with great patience and careful instruction."   NIV

Matthew 28:19-20
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age"   NIV

Acts 20:26-27
"Therefore, I declare to you today that I am innocent of the blood of all men. For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God."   NIV

John 1:1-4
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.
Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. In Him was life, and that life was the light of men."
 NIV

2 Timothy 4:2
"Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage — with great patience and careful instruction."   NIV

Matthew 10:18-20
"On My account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles. But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say, for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you."   NIV

2 Timothy 4:2
"Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage — with great patience and careful instruction."   NIV

“I can bear witness that the preacher did at once speak the words of truth and soberness. There was no eloquence – the honest man never dreamed of such a thing – but there was far better: a cordial communication of vitalized truth.” – Alexander Knox

“Some ministers would make good martyrs: they are so dry they would burn well.” – Charles Spurgeon

2.      Protect

2 Timothy 4:3-4
"For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths."   NIV

3.      Proselytize

2 Timothy 4:5
"But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry."   NIV

4.      Serve

2 Timothy 4:5
"But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry."   NIV

Acts 6:1-4
"In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Grecian Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food.  So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, 'It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables.  Brothers, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word."   NIV

Mark 9:33-35
"They came to Capernaum. When He was in the house, He asked them, 'What were you arguing about on the road?'   But they kept quiet because on the way they had argued about who was the greatest.
Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, 'If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all.'"
NIV

Mark 10:31
"But many who are first will be last, and the last first."  NIV

Mark 10:41-45
"When the ten heard about this, they became indignant with James and John. Jesus called them together and said, 'You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them.  Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.  For even the Son of Man
did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many."   NIV
